Inspirational Videos Encourage New Yorkers to ‘Be The One’

Donate Life NYS is proud to present a series of five inspirational videos featuring New Yorkers whose lives were saved thanks to the generosity of organ donors. These videos, generously funded by the NYS Department of Health, aim to raise awareness of the lifesaving impact made by organ, eye, and tissue donors and motivate New Yorkers to “Be the One” by enrolling in the New York State Donate Life Registry.

Chris Young

At only 23 years old, severe illness was causing Chris Young’s lungs to fail. Little did he know, the generosity of an organ donor would lead him not only to a lifesaving lung transplant, but to the love of his life.

Frank and Alisa Furfaro

When Frank and Alisa joined an online support group for transplant recipients, they never imagined their new hearts would lead them to new love. Frank offered Alisa advice and guidance, and over time a strong bond formed between them. They ultimately fell in love and got married. The Furfaros are grateful to have their second chance at life, and for the gift that came with it: a second chance at love.

Payton Garcia Archie

Because someone said yes to organ donation, Payton received a lifesaving heart transplant – twice. Now she is back to dancing and looking forward to someday becoming a fashion designer for dogs.

Tanya Voronko

Tanya, a cardiac nurse, began having heart palpitations two months after giving birth to her daughter Mia. She went to the E.R., where she was told she was in end stage heart failure and needed a transplant to survive. Thanks to the generosity of an organ donor, Tanya received her transplant. She’s now back at home, grateful that she and her husband are able to watch baby Mia grow up together.
