Donate Life New York State’s SFY 26 Funding Request

The SFY 26 Budget negotiation process is coming to a close, and we need your voice to ensure that Donate Life NYS receives the critical state funding necessary to continue saving lives through organ, eye, and tissue donation.
Donate Life NYS is requesting $1,700,000 in the final enacted SFY 26 budget to sustain and expand initiatives that have made a historic impact on New York’s donation rates.
This investment will allow Donate Life NYS to:
- Maintain and Expand the NYS Donate Life Registry – The Registry has grown by 93% since Donate Life NYS partnered with the state in 2016, adding over 3.9 million new enrollments.
- Enhance Community Outreach – Focused efforts are reaching communities with low donor enrollment and those disproportionately affected by organ failure.
- Expand Strategic Partnerships – New collaborations with the pharmacy community and SUNY Empire State Service Corps will engage pharmacists, students, and healthcare professionals in donor registration efforts.
- Innovate Registry Enrollment Access – Developing infrastructure to integrate donor registration opportunities through private health insurers and electronic medical record patient portals.
- Strengthen DMV & Auto Dealer Outreach – Expanding partnerships with the NYS DMV and the New York State Automobile Dealers Association to promote donor registration at 950 auto dealerships statewide.
New York has made significant progress, with more than 50% of the eligible population now registered as organ donors for the first time. But we need continued investment to build on this momentum and save even more lives.
